Race 13: Freshman boys 2, THE MUD BOWL : These photos were taken during the heaviest rain shower of the this very wet Oceanstate XC race weekend. It simply could not have rained harder. With 1/4 mile to go these Freshman kids had to run through this energy sapping 'soup. For my part, as the photographer, conditions could not have been much worse, I was kneeling in this 'soup' to gather these shots, my eyeglasses were rendered useless with the rain and were steamed-up with the humidity, I had no idea if my lens was wet or dry and couldn't tell if my shots were in focus - all of that said, this gallery is a pretty decent capture of the conditions that these young athletes battled through.

Race 7: Boys Championship Race : I was asked many, many, times during the meet how could I take photos in the dark woods during Tropical Storm Kyle. Great question and truth is I had to push my camera gear to it's limits. These shots were taken on an f/2 fixed lens (no zoom) and the ISO rating was 3200 (most photos are taken between ISO 200 and 400). The problem is that photos taken at ISO 3200 are grainy and noisy. The photos below were processed by a special noise removal software which cleans up the images such that you would never know how grainy these photos originally were ( had I not told you). Hope you enjoy these photos of great young athletes battling it out during the Boys Championship race.
