Run for Kerri, Aug 5th, 2007

Blessing of the Fleet, Jul 27th, 2007 : Approximately 3,000 runners, walkers and wheelchair entrants compete on a scenic and certified 10-mile course through historic Narragansett, ending at "The Towers" on the ocean (immediately adjacent to Seafood Festival -see below). Runners receive official Blessing of the Fleet T-Shirts as well as prizes.
Generally held on the last weekend in July each year, the event is "kicked off" with a scenic, 10-mile road race on Friday evening. The course, which winds its way through historic Narragansett, is officially sanctioned and listed as one of the top three races of its distance in New England. More than 3,000 runners competed in 2006, hailing from all over New England, across the country and around the world. The race's finish line is by "The Towers" in Narragansett, next to the Atlantic Ocean and Veterans Memorial Park, site of the Blessing of the Fleet Seafood Festival.

CVS Downtown 5K, Sep 16th, 2007 : Enjoy the fun, and feel the pain, with this gallery of 145 photos from the 2007 CVS Downtown 5K, incorporating the 2007 USATF 5K Road Race Championship. USA Championships are limited to US citizens only. To be eligible for championship awards, including prize money, athletes must have current - 2005 - USATF membership and be a US Citizen. Top placers also earn points in the 2005 USA Road Circuit scoring. There is no further entry requirement beyond those of the race. The top 6 individuals will receive USA Championship medals. 2007 New Bedford 1/2 Marathon : Approximately 1,900 runners braved the wind and the cold today to participate in the 30th New Bedford Half Marathon.Two natives of Ethiopia, now living in New York City, captured first place in the men’s and women’s races and the $750 in prize money.30th New Bedford Half MarathonAlene Reta, 25, who won last year’s race, finished with a time of 1:05:08.Alemtsehay Misganaw, 26, who won the race two years ago, had a time of 1:15:37.
